Neo Retro or vice versa…

New shoes on the three lunger that look like they stepped out of 1964. These tires from Firestone are so much like the originals that they must have tubes installed… Good or bad, they fit the bike well and add to the classic bobber styling and mystique!

Twins of a different era.

An old, broken down side stand, replaced by a modern counterpart that is better in quality, but I feel lacks the artistic beauty of the original. Still, it isn’t totally utilitarian, as the designer and creator tried to capture the essence of the first piece whilst making it stronger and sleeker. Succeed they did.

Something old, something new.

Truely satisfying!

This is a special delight for me…. I find re-lacing and truing spoke wheels very rewarding! As the pieces come together to make perfect roundness from a wobbly, undulating rim and the radii splay themselves in perfect formation, I have a sense of satisfaction as the sculpture is completed. And to bring a rusty old wheel from the brink of the scrap heap back to it’s original condition simply fuels the flame!!

This wheel is from a 1948 Morgan three wheeler and has a slightly different spoke pattern than the average motorcycle wheel.

First step is to remove the spokes so they can be replicated and the wheel re-laced with fresh spokes.
