Two of a Kind

It’s not often to see a sidecar rig, but two maternal twins is quite unique!!! My friend John has been looking for a Harley sidecar the last couple of years and found one identical to ours! So I had to ride in yesterday just to have a photo shoot with these matching 1995 FLHTCU-I 30th Anniversary of the Electra Glide models! Too cool!

As a side note, his sidecar is 1995 vintage while ours is 1993 production…

The new owner of this bike decided to keep it just as it is, a time capsule of the days of our innocence, so to speak. So we set about making everything work correctly and only cleaned and polished a little bit of it. We repaired the starter system, throw out bearing, kickstand, and manifold electrical issues with the lights, ignition switch and wiring harness. Replaced the drive chain and guard, battery, driver foot pegs, front brake pads and performed a full service, flushed the brake systems, set the ignition timing correctly and tweaked the S&S carburetor. Mounted new tires and found the rear wheel wouldn’t hold air. So we built a new rim and hub with twisted stainless steel spokes, which we also installed in the front wheel to keep everything consistent at the owner’s request. And now I think we have one of the coolest retro rides around RVA!!

Only “before” pic I took.
