Cap’n Morgan

These wheels were brought in for lacing and truing. They are in primer and will receive paint to match the Morgan three wheeled car that they belong to. The Morgan was first produced from 1919 to 1950 and are now being reproduced using an S&S motor and attracting quite a bit of attention! Even J. Leno has one in his garage…IMG_4609IMG_4611IMG_4612IMG_4614IMG_4615IMG_4617

Round about true

I got to re-lace this Harley wheel with these incredible diamond cut spokes that will just dazzle you with every revolution as light is gathered and compressed to make a spectacular laser like shimmer of sun spot that plays a sweet melody of visual music.

Started with a stock Heritage Softail front wheel.

Changed out the spokes for these gorgeous diamond cut spokes.

And the finished product. Although I never got a pic of the wheel back on the bike.

Truely satisfying!

This is a special delight for me…. I find re-lacing and truing spoke wheels very rewarding! As the pieces come together to make perfect roundness from a wobbly, undulating rim and the radii splay themselves in perfect formation, I have a sense of satisfaction as the sculpture is completed. And to bring a rusty old wheel from the brink of the scrap heap back to it’s original condition simply fuels the flame!!

This wheel is from a 1948 Morgan three wheeler and has a slightly different spoke pattern than the average motorcycle wheel.

First step is to remove the spokes so they can be replicated and the wheel re-laced with fresh spokes.
